Tennis Court FAQs

There are a number of questions we are regularly asked regarding the installation of new tennis courts as well as existing tennis courts that need cleaning or resurfacing.

To help with your research or any queries you may have we’ve compiled a list of answers to the most frequently asked questions that we receive.

If you have a question not answered here please contact us.

Q: Do I have enough room for a tennis court?

A: A standard domestic tennis court is the following dimensions:

Length: 33.53m (110ft)
Width: 16.48m (54ft)*

However the LTA recommended size is:
Length: 34.75m (114ft)
Width: 17.07m (56ft)

LTA full size:
Length: 36.58m (120ft)
Width: 18.20m (60ft).

For private courts, overall court dimensions of 33.53m x 16.48m would be adequate.

Q: Will I need planning permission for my tennis court?

A: If the court will result in a change in use of the land, eg. from agricultural, planning permission may be required.

You may also need to seek planning permission for perimeter fencing for private tennis courts. We suggest you contact your local council to seek the required information.

Q: How long does it take to build a tennis court?

A: Each project is individual so time frames are difficult to estimate, but usually the construction phase of a project will last approximately 2 to 3 weeks, weather dependent.
